Diagnostics with clinical context
VetPro is an independent veterinary diagnostic laboratory based in Belgrade, supporting veterinary practices across Serbia and the region.
We provide laboratory testing, clinical pathology interpretation and direct diagnostic support for veterinarians — from routine cases to those requiring a more considered approach.
Our aim is not simply to generate results, but to help make those results clinically useful.

Why VetPro exists
VetPro was founded with a simple aim: to give veterinarians access to reliable diagnostics, expert interpretation and direct laboratory support, regardless of where they practise.
For nearly two decades, we have worked with veterinary practices across Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the wider region.
During that time, laboratory diagnostics have changed considerably. New methods, technologies and biomarkers have expanded what can be measured. But the underlying clinical question remains the same:
What does this result mean for this patient?
That question continues to shape the way we work.
More than a result
A laboratory result has limited value in isolation.
Its clinical significance depends on the patient, the sample, the method used and the question being asked.
For that reason, we consider laboratory findings in context whenever possible — together with the species, clinical history, other laboratory data and relevant methodological limitations.
This is particularly important in clinical pathology, where interpretation may be as important as the analytical result itself.
Our role is therefore not limited to testing. When needed, we discuss findings with the submitting veterinarian, consider differential diagnoses and help identify appropriate next diagnostic steps.

Veterinary clinical pathology at the centre
Clinical pathology is central to the way VetPro approaches laboratory diagnostics.
Testing and interpretation are performed under the supervision of Strahinja Medić, DVM, MS, PhD, FRCPath, Veterinary Clinical Pathologist, with specialist involvement particularly in haematology, cytology, urinalysis and the interpretation of complex laboratory findings.
Holding the FRCPath qualification from the Royal College of Pathologists reflects specialist training and assessment in veterinary clinical pathology.
This expertise also informs how laboratory methods are selected, evaluated and incorporated into routine diagnostic work.

Quality is a process
Reliable results depend on much more than the analyser performing the measurement.
Sample quality, method performance, equipment, reagents, internal quality control, personnel and interpretation all contribute to the final result.
At VetPro, quality is therefore built into the diagnostic process rather than treated as a final check.
Methods are verified or validated as appropriate before routine use. Internal quality control is performed at defined intervals, equipment performance is monitored and external quality assessment is used where available and relevant.
When a method has limitations, those limitations matter — and where they may influence interpretation, they should be recognised.
Most testing is performed in-house
The majority of our laboratory testing is performed within VetPro.
This allows us to maintain direct oversight of the analytical process, respond quickly when a finding requires review and integrate results from different areas of the laboratory when interpreting a case.
For specialised investigations that are not performed in-house, we work with selected external reference laboratories and diagnostic partners. The choice of an external laboratory is based on the method required, the expertise available and the diagnostic question being addressed.
Built around veterinary practice
A reference laboratory should be accessible when a case is straightforward — and particularly when it is not.
Veterinarians working with VetPro can contact the laboratory to discuss test selection, sample requirements, unexpected findings or possible next steps.
Sometimes the most useful contribution of the laboratory is another test.
Sometimes it is knowing that another test is unlikely to answer the clinical question.
Both are part of good laboratory medicine.
Where we are going
Veterinary laboratory diagnostics continue to evolve.
Our focus is on introducing methods that add genuine diagnostic value, strengthening clinical pathology and specialist interpretation, and making high-quality veterinary diagnostics increasingly accessible across the region.
Technology will continue to change the way laboratory medicine is delivered. The principle behind VetPro will remain the same:
Reliable diagnostics, interpreted in clinical context.
